Aimed specifically at younger scientists, this conference is a forum for research into evolving microbial systems bridging the gap between mathematical models, laboratory models and natural ecosystems.
Speakers will talk about plant and human pathogens, natural fungal ecosystems, consortia of symbionts, their responses to antibiotics and viruses and single-cell observations of bacteria in microfluidic devices.

get to Exeter somehow, then finish off the journey by train.
Take a train to either Exeter St David's or Exeter Central Station, this can take 3h, or less, direct from London. If you are coming from London, it's worth asking for a return to Teignmouth from London Paddington station.
This is where you can get tickets online: http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/ for this leg of the journey
Once you're in Exeter, get a train south to Teignmouth, this should take about 20 minutes. When you arrive at the station, you're right next to the conference venue.
However Shaldon, where all the accommodation is, is about 2 miles away from the station, a taxi is probably the best bet for your first trip. On subsequent trips, do ask someone about the ferry from Teignmouth to Shaldon and back:

All UK train times can be found here: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/
Fly to either Heathrow and then go from there by rail using the Heathrow Express to Paddington.
Or fly directly to Exeter airport, get a taxi to the railway station in Exeter and then finish off the journey by rail.
Get a National Express to Exeter, then finish off the journey by rail. Some places do have direct buses to Teignmouth (for details try http://www.nationalexpress.com/)
Participants should book their own accommodation. A list of Hotels and B+B in the area can be found here.
